About Nathaniel

About

I’m proud to run for the Maine Senate, representing District 16: Fairfield, Waterville, Winslow, Albion, and Oakland. I live in Fairfield, in the home my grandfather, who was a papermill worker at Huhtamaki, lived in for 91 years.

I am running because I truly believe it is time for a change: instead of arguing with each other, we need to come together and find common ground to help the residents of our communities. I am for the people and I will work hard to ensure that their issues are heard and discussed in a respectful way.

I believe in public service, having previously served as a firefighter/EMT for Winslow Fire and currently serving in the same capacity for both Waterville Fire and Belgrade Fire. In addition to my role as a firefighter, I teach science at a local middle school and coaches middle school sports. I have also served on the Waterville Planning Board and completed two terms on the Waterville City Council.

I am here to work for the people of our district and with their support I can get to Augusta!

On the Issues

Education

We must invest in education for students of all ages. That means supporting early childhood development by funding Pre-K programs, maintaining state aid for K-12 education, improving career and technical education programs for high schoolers, and bolstering adult education and workforce training programs.

Jobs

We must support our economy and the small businesses we depend on by investing in transportation and high-speed internet infrastructure. Workforce training and affordable higher education are necessary to help Mainers adjust to the changing job market, as we build a more resilient and robust economy.

Reproductive Rights

Reproductive health care decisions are between a woman and her health care professional, not politicians. Reproductive health care is an essential part of health care that allows Mainers to decide what’s best for their bodies and their futures.

Property Taxes

Whether you own or rent, your housing costs are a significant expense. We can reduce property taxes and rental costs by maintaining municipal revenue sharing for fire, police, and roads, funding our schools, and further improving the property tax programs that benefit Maine residents.

Affordable Healthcare

Affordable and accessible healthcare for all Mainers will help us live longer and happier lives. I will advocate for policies to keep health care and prescription drug costs down, as well as efforts to expand services to people in need.
